Church Horror: Man Attacks Elderly Victims in Shocking Assault
Steven Reble unleashed terror at a town centre church on Wednesday 23 June 2021. The 45-year-old stormed the altar shouting disturbing comments before physically assaulting a woman inside.
Violent Attack on Over-70 Victims
Reble forced the woman to the floor while making disgusting sexual remarks. Two elderly bystanders, both over 70, tried to intervene but were battered by Reble in the struggle.
Police quickly arrived and arrested Reble nearby, identifying him as the attacker.
Man Jailed for Four Years After Sexual Assault Admission
From his home in Longford Terrace, Reble was charged and later admitted to sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault linked to the church attack. He also pleaded guilty to a public order offence for making sexual comments to a woman two days earlier in the town centre.
Canterbury Crown Court sentenced the dangerous offender to four years behind bars, plus an additional three years on licence. He must also comply with an indefinite Sexual Offences Act order to report any changes in his circumstances to police.
Police Praise Swift Justice
“This incident would have been extremely frightening for the victims and I hope the swift arrest made by police and the prison sentence now handed down helps them in their recovery from what happened,” said Detective Chief Inspector Ben Loose.
“Reble’s actions showed him to be a dangerous man and I am pleased he is now off of our streets and will be subject to strict conditions on his release from prison.”
