Huddersfield Teen Shooter Jailed for Six Years
A Kirklees man has been locked up for his part in a shocking incident that left a 12-year-old boy shot and injured in Huddersfield last year.
Jordan Kelly, 19, from Huddersfield, was sentenced to six years at Leeds Crown Court on Friday, August 27. Kelly pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear and perverting the course of justice.
12-Year-Old Left with Facial Injuries
The crime happened outside Northfield Hall Community Centre on the evening of March 10, 2020. A young boy was hit in the face after a firearm was discharged.
This shocking attack sparked a major probe led by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team alongside Kirklees Police.
Two Caught Helping Kelly Dodge Justice
Two others involved in helping Kelly evade capture have also been punished.
- John Foggo, 40, was handed a four-year prison sentence for perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender.
- Sarah Nixon, 37, got an 18-month suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice.
Police Vow to Catch All Involved
“The shooting of this 12-year-old was an appalling act which could very easily resulted in him losing his life,” said DCI Vanessa Rolfe of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
“He suffered facial injuries requiring lengthy hospital treatment. I’m pleased Kelly has admitted his role and been jailed for years.
“The convictions of Foggo and Nixon show that trying to help offenders won’t be tolerated. We will prosecute those who try.”
“The firearm discharge remains under investigation. We are committed to bringing all involved to justice,” she added.
“We urge anyone with information to come forward through HMET, the police website, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
Chief Superintendent Julie Sykes, Kirklees Police District Commander, said: “The gunshot outside Northfield Hall in March 2020 shocked Huddersfield and sparked a lengthy investigation.
“Thanks to hard work by Kirklees Police and partners, firearms offences are down and many have been convicted in recent years.”
