Armed Thug’s Christmas Eve Knife Rampage Cut Short by Brave Cops

Jacek Gralak, 25, sparked terror across Gravesend on Christmas Eve 2020 before quick-thinking officers swooped and ended his violent spree. The Kent Road man pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, actual bodily harm, and carrying a knife – and was handed a tough sentence at Maidstone’s Nightingale Court.

Knife-Wielding Attacker Strikes Twice in Gravesend

Shortly after 7.45pm, a Gravesend resident returned inside his home on Wrotham Road to find Gralak waiting. After a brief argument, Gralak pushed him onto a sofa and lunged repeatedly with a knife – luckily missing every time – before fleeing.

On the way to Essex Road junction, Gralak started another violent clash, pulled a knife on a second man, and kicked him to the floor. When concerned bystanders stepped in, Gralak bolted but didn’t stop there.

Second Home Invaded as Cops Arrive

He forced his way into a nearby Essex Road house, punching and kicking a man while threatening him with the blade. The victim escaped to a conservatory just as Kent Police burst in, responding to cries for help.

A woman inside initially tried to block Gralak’s access, but when she fled, officers placed themselves between her and the attacker. They discharged a taser, subduing Gralak and preventing more harm.

Defiant Assault on Cop After Arrest

After being taken for a hospital check, Gralak tried to urinate against a wall but was stopped by a police officer – who was then elbowed by the thug in blatant defiance. He admitted assaulting the emergency worker alongside his other charges.

“Gralak inflicted a huge amount of terror upon victims he indiscriminately targeted,” said Detective Constable Helen Cole. “His offending was excessively violent, completely senseless and has understandably had a profound impact on the people he threatened and assaulted.”

“He has shown himself to be a highly dangerous man who has absolutely zero regard for anyone else. The officers who were first on scene took quick and decisive action to bring Gralak under control and stop him causing further harm. I am pleased that a strong custodial sentence has now been imposed, and I hope this outcome provides the victims with a degree of closure.”
