Fire Ravages London Maisonette, Woman and Baby Rushed to Hospital
Blaze Hits Four-Room Ground Floor Flat
A fierce fire tore through most of a four-room maisonette on the ground floor of a London building in the early hours. Firefighters rescued a woman trapped inside, while a baby from the flat above was also taken to hospital.
Quick-Thinking Crews Save Lives
Station Commander Leon Back, on the scene, said, “Crews very quickly gained access to the property and rescued a woman inside the maisonette.” He hailed the team’s efforts in “very challenging conditions.” Both the woman and baby were rushed to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
Massive Response Cuts Fire in Under an Hour
The Brigade received the call at 3.28am and had the blaze under control by 4.05am. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Leyton, Leytonstone, Walthamstow, Stratford, and Homerton fire stations battled the flames.
Cause Under Police Investigation
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently being investigated by the police.
