Couple Found Guilty of Brutal Ealing Murder After Robbery Plot
Guilty Verdict at Old Bailey
A man and woman have been convicted over the savage killing of Paul Tong in Ealing. Christopher McDonald, 34, from Goodwin Road, was found guilty of murder and conspiracy to rob. His accomplice, Aliysa Ellis, 30, of Loveday Road, was convicted of manslaughter and conspiracy to rob.
Deadly Robbery Plan
The court heard how Ellis and McDonald teamed up to rob Paul Tong, 54, on the night of April 19, 2017. Paul’s body was discovered the following day in a Willcott Road property after concerned family members alerted police. The post-mortem revealed horrific injuries, including fractured ribs and a ruptured liver.
Evidence Reveals Callous Crime
A metal bar found behind the bedroom door was believed to be the weapon used. Messages on McDonald’s phone showed chilling coordination, with Ellis texting him before 9pm: “make sure you get the P” — slang for money. The pair kept in touch the next day, and by April 21, McDonald had even searched for “Crimewatch”.
Police and Court React
Ellis was arrested on May 3, McDonald on May 12, 2017, and both faced charges in January 2018. Detective Sergeant Lee Tullett said:
“Ellis knew that Paul Tong dealt drugs and kept cash and valuables in his bedroom; she conspired with McDonald to rob him. Paul was subjected to a violent attack and they left him fatally injured before his body was found the next day. I hope this conviction brings some closure to Paul’s family so they can move forward.”
Sentencing is set for April 3 at the Old Bailey.
