Burglary Bandit Caught After Stealing BMW and Laptops
Wayne Greene smashed into a home on 25 May and made off with three laptops and a silver BMW. The stolen car was later found abandoned on Whitley Court Road, Birmingham.
CCTV Cracks Case Wide Open
Thanks to extensive CCTV from the victim’s home and nearby properties, police quickly identified Greene at the scene. With the evidence stacked high, the 40-year-old changed his plea to guilty.
Greene Locked Up for Nearly Three Years
Greene appeared at 1 Crown Court on Wednesday, 15 November, and was jailed for two years and eight months for burglary and vehicle theft.
PC William Moore from Sandwell Neighbourhood Crime Team said: “We know the impact burglaries have on the community and no one should feel unsafe in their own home. Greene was identified by some really good CCTV footage in the area and we were able to quickly locate, arrest and charge him with theft of a motor vehicle and burglary. I hope this sentencing offers residents some reassurance that we are committed to doing all we can to make sure those responsible for burglaries are held to justice.”
