Guilty Plea and Tough Sentence

  • Smith pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and carrying a blade in public.
  • He was sentenced to four and a half years for the assault and nine months for possession of the weapon.
  • The sentences will run concurrently.

Police Warn Against Knife Crime

“We’re pleased with the sentence handed down to Smith today,” said Detective Constable Pete Emery.

“We will not tolerate knife crime in our community. This sentence sends a strong message that we will take action against those responsible. The victim suffered a very serious injury that could have been far worse.

It is never acceptable to carry a knife. We will keep working tirelessly to identify those carrying knives and involved in violent crime.”
