Police Crackdown Targets Thieves and Troublemakers in Kent Towns
On the evening of Friday 7 June 2024, police stepped up patrols across multiple Kent towns, hunting down anyone acting suspiciously or causing trouble. Both uniformed and plainclothes officers conducted several stop-and-searches while gathering intelligence in a bid to crack down on crime.
Man Arrested Over Theft at Canterbury Road Business
Officers spotted a man wanted in connection with a theft from a premises on Canterbury Road. Items stolen included food, drink, and laundry goods, reported missing since 1 May. Adam Price-Stevens, 37, of Hill House Drive, Ramsgate, was arrested and charged with theft and fraud. He is due to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on 21 June.
Patrols Target Folkestone and Canterbury Nightspots
As part of the same operation, police carried out licensing checks at pubs and venues in Folkestone and Canterbury. In Canterbury, one man was arrested for breaching court bail by entering the city centre between 7pm and 7am. Another received a Community Protection Warning for anti-social behaviour, and officers spoke to groups involved in inconsiderate conduct.
In Folkestone, two men found with a class B drug after a stop-and-search faced a Community Resolution rather than harsher penalties.
Superintendent: Plain Clothes Ops Keep Kent Safer
“Deploying plain clothes officers in busy evening spots helps us spot everything from predatory behaviour towards women and girls to ongoing anti-social behaviour and linking people to previous offences,” said East Kent Superintendent Daniel Carter.
