Undercover Cops Snare Suspect in Canterbury Theft Sting
Uniformed and plainclothes officers were out in force on Friday night, 7 June 2024, patrolling Kent towns to crack down on dodgy behaviour. They carried out several stop-and-searches and gathered vital intelligence as part of their operation.
Man Nabbed Over Canterbury Road Theft
During the swoop, cops spotted a man on their want list linked to a reported theft at a Canterbury Road business. The crime, which happened on 1 May, involved stolen food, drink, and laundry items.
Adam Price-Stevens, 37, from Hill House Drive, Ramsgate, was arrested and charged with theft and fraud. He’s set to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on 21 June.
Folkestone and Canterbury Targeted in Wider Crackdown
Elsewhere, officers patrolled venues and pubs in Folkestone and Canterbury, performing licensing checks to keep trouble at bay.
In Canterbury:
- One man was arrested for breaching court bail conditions banning him from the city centre between 7pm and 7am.
- Another received a Community Protection Warning for anti-social behaviour.
- Groups behaving badly were also spoken to by police.
In Folkestone, two men caught with a class B drug after a stop-and-search were offered Community Resolutions, avoiding more serious action.
Kent Police Say Plainclothes Ops Are Making a Difference
“Deploying plain clothes officers in busy evening hotspots helps us spot suspicious activity—from predatory behaviour to folks linked to past crimes,” said East Kent Superintendent Daniel Carter. “Operations like this take criminals off our streets and keep Kent safe for residents, visitors and businesses alike.”
