Man Charged with 1993 Double Murder After 27 Years
Danville Neil, 63, from Sandrock Road, SE13, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, 7 July). He is charged with the brutal murders of Ann Castle, 74, and her brother William Bryan, 71, who were found dead at a Clare Street, E2 address back in August 1993.
Cold Case Breakthrough
Neil was also charged with burglary linked to the case. He was arrested in October 2020 after old evidence was re-examined, leading to his charge on Tuesday, 6 July.
Victims’ Cause of Death Revealed
- Ann Castle died from ischaemic heart disease, according to a 1993 post-mortem at Poplar Mortuary.
- William Bryan’s cause of death was asphyxia combined with ischaemic heart disease.
Neil’s next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, 9 July at the Central Criminal Court. Police say enquiries are still ongoing as they piece together this decades-old mystery.
