Man Charged with Murder of Woman in Eastbourne

Tony King, 59, from Cornfield Terrace, Eastbourne, has been remanded in custody. He is set to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 21.

Tragic Discovery at Connaught Road

Police and paramedics rushed to a property on Connaught Road at around 6.45pm on Sunday, December 18. They were called over concerns for a woman’s welfare. Sadly, 68-year-old Sabrina Cooper was found dead at the scene.

Murder Investigation Launched

A murder probe was quickly opened. Officers arrested a suspect known to Sabrina at an Eastbourne address early Monday morning, December 19. Tony King was charged with one count of murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Police Reassure Community

“Our thoughts are with Sabrina’s family and friends at this difficult time. We are supporting them and keeping them updated on this fast-moving investigation,” said Detective Chief Inspector Emma Vickers.

“This appears to be an isolated incident involving people who knew each other. There is no threat to the wider public,” she added.

“Extensive enquiries led to the arrest and charge within 48 hours. We encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
