Three Jailed for Horrific Kidnap and Murder of DJ in Tottenham
Three men have been locked up for their roles in the savage kidnapping, torture, and murder of popular DJ Mehmet Koray Alpergin in Tottenham last year. The 43-year-old and his girlfriend, Gozde Dalbudak, were snatched after dining out in Mayfair in October 2022.
Brutal Torture at Abandoned Tottenham Wine Bar
The couple was forced to a derelict wine bar near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Mehmet faced a horrific ordeal. He was beaten, throttled, scalded with boiling water, stabbed, and mutilated. His battered body was dumped in woodland by Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in Loughton. Miraculously, Gozde was kept captive for two days before being released with money for a taxi.
A post-mortem uncovered 94 separate injuries on Mehmet’s body, with the murder showing clear signs of organised crime ties, likely linked to the drug world.
Eight Men Involved, Two Still On The Run
The court heard eight men were involved in the kidnapping, with some fitting a tracker to Mehmet’s car. Among those convicted, Dylan Weatherley and Isay Stoyanov didn’t inflict the violence but played key roles in the abduction and cover-up.
- Dylan Weatherley, 20, of Beaufoy Road, Tottenham, was sentenced to five years for manslaughter, kidnap, and false imprisonment—added to a life sentence already hanging over him for a separate murder conspiracy.
- Isay Stoyanov, 44, a Bulgarian decorator from Seven Sisters, got 18 months for perverting the course of justice by helping tidy up the crime scene.
- Kyrie Mitchell-Peart, 33, from Barnet, admitted kidnap and false imprisonment and was jailed for six years and four months.
In a separate trial last year, four more men were convicted. Tejean Kennedy, 33, and Ali Kavak, 26, were found guilty of kidnap, false imprisonment, and manslaughter. Samuel Owusu-Opoku, 36, admitted two counts of kidnap, while Steffan Gordon, 35, was convicted of kidnap and false imprisonment.
Turkish Community Left Reeling
The Turkish community in London is shaken by the crime. Mehmet, originally from Northern Cyprus, was well-known as the owner of Bizim FM, a Turkish radio station.
Two suspects remain at large, believed to have fled the UK. Police continue to hunt them as the investigation presses on.
