Brutal Attacker Yonattan Pineda Found Guilty of Rape and Violent Assaults in London
Two Women Victimised by Dangerous Stranger
Yonattan Aroldy Gonzalez Pineda, 33, a drifter with no fixed address, was convicted on Friday, 26 March, after a joint trial over horrific attacks on two women in Southwark and Haringey.
On 30 November 2019, Pineda harassed a woman at a Southwark bar despite her clear refusals to engage. When she left with a friend, he followed and viciously attacked her, smashing a glass bottle against her face and causing deep wounds.
The terrified woman fled to a nearby police station for help and medical treatment. Pineda was arrested days later, charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH), and bailed to appear in court.
Repeat Offender Strikes Again While Awaiting Trial
While on bail, Pineda’s depravity escalated. On 23 June 2020, he brutally assaulted, falsely imprisoned, and raped another woman visiting his home in Haringey.
Police were alerted the following day and launched a manhunt. Pineda was caught and charged with GBH, false imprisonment, and rape shortly after.
Justice Served After Two-Week Trial
Pineda pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of two counts of grievous bodily harm, false imprisonment, and rape at Wood Green Crown Court on 15 March 2021. Sentencing is due on 28 May 2021.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage and Urge Others to Speak Out
“Pineda is a highly dangerous individual who showed no remorse for hurting two women he had relationships with,” said Detective Constable Myles Bossman. “This verdict shows such violent acts won’t be tolerated.”
Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Edwards added: “Our team remains committed to protecting vulnerable people. We encourage victims to come forward and trust the police to seek justice.”
