Knife Killer Draven Jewell Guilty of Manslaughter Over Lymington Stabbing
Draven Jewell, 21, from Flushards, Lymington, has been found guilty of manslaughter over the stabbing death of Max Maguire. The Winchester Crown Court jury cleared him of murder after a month-long trial.
Fatal Alleyway Fight Near Royal British Legion Club
The court heard that Max Maguire was stabbed during a brawl in an alley near the Royal British Legion Club on High Street, Lymington, around midnight on Friday 22 October 2021. Max was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two others were seriously injured in the attack. A 23-year-old man suffered life-changing stab wounds needing multiple emergency surgeries. A 23-year-old woman also suffered severe chest injuries requiring hospital treatment.
Jewell Caught and Charged After Fleeing Scene
Jewell fled after the attack but was arrested early the next morning at his home. He admitted to carrying an offensive weapon in public. The jury also found him guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent against the two victims.
Detective Chief Inspector Rod Kenny said: “The jury rejected Jewell’s claim of lawful self-defence. His use of a knife that night cut short a young life far too soon. Our thoughts remain with Max’s family, friends, and the injured victims.”
Co-Accused Garon Jewell Cleared
Garon Jewell, 19, also from Flushards, faced murder and grievous bodily harm charges. But new evidence surfaced mid-trial, leading the Crown Prosecution Service to drop all charges against him with no further action.
Draven Jewell’s sentencing is set for 18 July at Winchester Crown Court.
