Islington Drug Dealer Nicholas Leighton Caged for Three Years
Nicholas Leighton, caught with a stash of Class A drugs and a mountain of cash in Islington, has been jailed for three years. The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to possession of MDMA and cocaine with intent to supply, plus possession of criminal property at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Police Raid Uncovers Massive Drug Haul and £25,000 in Cash
On 31 January, officers executed a warrant at Leighton’s Islington home. They found £25,216 in cash along with numerous wraps of MDMA and 29 tablets of cocaine — all Class A substances. When Leighton was called back to the property, he’d cleverly ditched his jacket outside, containing another £2,000 and a wrap of cocaine, which police later discovered.
Second Search Finds More Cocaine Hidden in Protein Powder
A follow-up raid on 22 May led officers to Leighton’s house and car. They seized 11 wraps of cocaine hidden inside a pot of protein powder and £2,527 in cash. Mobile phones taken in the search revealed messages about drug supply. Leighton pleaded guilty to these charges after being remanded in custody.
Police Vow to Crack Down on Dealers and Disrupt Drug Supply
Inspector Stephen Johnston-Keay said: “The Met will continue to target those who supply large quantities of drugs and bring them to justice. Confiscation proceedings against Leighton will now commence. I’m delighted with today’s outcome and believe it shows our zero tolerance approach towards drug dealing.”
He added: “We’ll keep working with partners to disrupt illegal drugs in our boroughs. This was a significant haul removed from circulation. The sentences reflect the enormous harm these crimes cause to UK communities. We are committed to pursuing anyone involved in such criminality.”
