Gunman Jailed for 16 Years After Targeted Shooting in NW10
John Paul Emeh, 35, from Sixth Avenue, W10, has been locked up for 16 years for shooting a man in the thigh with intent to endanger life. He also received 15 years for causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both sentences will run at the same time.
Victim Shot Over Range Rover Dispute
The attack happened in the early hours of 22 July 2018 on Western Road, NW10. Emeh waited for his victim, a 50-year-old man, to leave a venue at around 4.30am. Emeh pulled a small handgun from his pocket and shot the man in the thigh. A second shot failed to fire due to a gun malfunction.
Emeh then made a getaway on a moped. The victim underwent surgery for his leg wound. He told police the shooting was linked to a dispute over a Range Rover and said he only knew Emeh as “Mustafa” and “Yousef.”
Police Nab Emeh After Met’s Trident Unit Investigation
Detective Constable Michael Clinch led the investigation. Emeh was arrested on 28 September 2018 and charged. At sentencing, the court also imposed a 21-year licence and an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim and witnesses.
“This was a targeted and violent attack and we are pleased Emeh is no longer on our streets,” said DC Clinch. “The victim was lucky not to suffer worse injuries, and we hope this sentence offers some closure.”
