Knife Attack in Brighton: Man Jailed After Neighbour’s Bravery
A neighbour’s quick thinking and bravery helped save a woman stabbed in Brighton’s Baden Road just after 7.30am on September 26 last year.
Police Arrest Suspect at the Scene
Sussex Police’s Tactical Firearms Unit and Brighton officers swooped on 56-year-old David Keville, also known as David Alexander, arresting him instantly. The victim was rushed to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Trial Drama Ends with Prison Sentence
Keville went on trial at Chichester Crown Court on March 10. The jury cleared him of wounding with intent but found him guilty of wounding without intent under Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act.
He also pleaded guilty to producing a class B drug after cannabis was discovered by police in his possession. Keville was jailed for two years for the assault, with no extra sentence for the drug charge.
Court heard Keville used a paring knife in the attack.
