Matthew Jones, a drifter with no fixed address, has been jailed for life with a minimum of 20 years after being found guilty of murdering William. The verdict came today (Monday 1 February 2021) at Manchester Crown Court.
Shocking Discovery on Kilnside Drive
On the morning of 19 March 2018, police broke into William’s home on Kilnside Drive after concerned calls about his welfare. Officers found William, 39, dead at the scene from multiple stab wounds. The brutal nature of his injuries sparked an immediate murder investigation.
Knife Evidence and Fingerprints Seal the Case
While removing William’s body, officers uncovered a large kitchen knife beneath him. Forensic experts found Matthew Jones’ fingerprints on the weapon. Further inquiries revealed Jones was often seen with William, with witnesses calling Jones “Will’s brother.”
