Three Teens Charged After Stolen Mercedes Crash in Maidstone
Three teenagers have been charged after a stolen Mercedes ended in a serious crash in Maidstone late on May 13, 2024. Police were chasing the car near Lenham at around 11:55 pm when the dramatic incident unfolded.
High-Speed Chase Ends in Hospital
The Mercedes, reported stolen from Medway, was intercepted by officers, but the pursuit ended in a serious collision. One victim was rushed to 123 Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Suspects Arrested and Charged
Immediately after the crash, a man and two teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of involvement. Following investigations, 18-year-old Caden Stephens from Gordon Road, Gillingham, was charged with multiple offences, including:
- Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
- Burglary
- Theft of car keys
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Driving without a licence
- Driving without insurance
- Failure to provide a blood sample for analysis
Two other 17-year-old boys from Gillingham have also been charged. One of them has been granted conditional bail ahead of a court hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on June 27.
