Met Cops Nab Paedophile After He Hoards 6,000 Sick Child Pics

In March 2023, specialist Met officers launched a probe into Arif Azad, 21, from Newham, after receiving crucial intel. The investigation uncovered Azad had accessed nearly 6,000 indecent images of children online — with 3,500 in the most extreme category.

Chilling Online Chats With Unknown Child

Worse still, officers found some of these vile images were sent directly to Azad by an unknown child he had been grooming online.

PC Ella Rose, Met Safeguarding Officer, said: “Although there was no evidence Azad met a child in person, he is undoubtedly a paedophile. His behaviour was getting more worrying by the day.”

“Thanks to the relentless work of our Online Child Sexual Abuse Exploitation Team, Azad was brought to justice. The investigation was tough and distressing for officers who had to sift through horrific evidence.”

Downloading a ‘Paedophile Manual’ Before Arrest

On the day before his arrest, Azad downloaded a disturbing ‘paedophile manual’ offering sick advice on abusing children as young as two months old. Forensic analysis also confirmed Azad communicated with children online on multiple occasions.

Four Years Behind Bars & Lifetime Sex Offender Status

The Met’s North East Online Child Sexual Abuse Exploitation Team led the case that saw Azad sentenced on 19 April 2024 at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

He received four years in prison: two years for making, distributing, and possessing indecent images, plus another two for sexual communication with a child and possession of the manual.

Azad pleaded guilty last October. He now faces life on the Sex Offender Register and a decade-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
