Driver Jailed for 7 Years After Young Woman Killed in Lambeth Crash

A man has been locked up for seven years following a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of 20-year-old Anisha Garner last February in Brixton Hill, Lambeth.

Quincy Anyiam Sentenced at Old Bailey

Quincy Anyiam, 26, from Wolfs Wood, Oxted, Surrey, appeared at the Old Bailey today. He admitted dangerous driving and failing to stop after a police pursuit ended in tragedy.

The incident unfolded just before 10pm on 19 February when Anyiam sped off after police ordered him to stop in Brixton Hill. Moments later, his car crashed into Anisha Garner, who was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency efforts.

Anyiam fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle nearby. Two days later, he surrendered to authorities and faced charges for his reckless actions.

Family Pay Heartbreaking Tribute to Anisha

“Anisha was a beautiful, intelligent, witty, fun and hugely kind person who had time for everyone. She was passionate about many things and all her passions became our passions, from Eurovision to Timothée Chalamet,” said a family spokesperson.

“She wanted to travel the world and experience everything life had to offer — but her life was cut short by Quincy Anyiam’s reckless driving. She stood no chance. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Her brother Gael added: “Anisha was a truly spectacular person — smart, funny and caring. She is loved no matter what. Her love is endless. We simply adored Anisha and will miss her forever.”

Police Slam Driver’s Lack of Remorse

Anyiam failed to show genuine remorse and skipped court on two occasions, dragging the case out and causing further anguish for the family.

Acting Detective Inspector Richard Budd said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident for Anisha’s family. While justice has been served, no sentence can repair the devastation Anyiam has caused.”
