260 Bags of Cannabis Seized in Major Drug Haul
A massive parcel from Los Angeles, California, destined for Hucknall Road, Sherwood, has landed a drug dealer behind bars. Inside the shipment, disguised as ‘machinery for dry cleaning,’ police found 260 bags of cannabis weighing a whopping 153 kilograms.
Nottingham Police Crack Down on Drug Importer
Four days after intercepting the package, Nottinghamshire Police executed a warrant at the Sherwood address on 16 November 2022. Curtis Campbell, 31, was arrested on the spot.
Officers uncovered incriminating evidence on Campbell’s phones showing importation and supply of drugs. He was charged with involvement in the fraudulent import of Class B drugs. Campbell, from Oulton Lodge, Top Valley, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to supplying and producing Class B substances.
Hefty Jail Term for Drug Smuggler
Campbell was sentenced to four years and eight months in jail at Nottingham Crown Court on 21 February 2023.
Investigators also revealed another parcel, flagged by Border Force at Coventry International Hub in May 2022, was sent to Campbell. It contained 530g of cannabis worth up to £4,500. Campbell was arrested in connection with this in August 2022.
Police Praise Successful Operation
Detective Constable Ben Grayson said: “These investigations show how Nottinghamshire Police and partners work tirelessly to tackle organised crime. I’m delighted we stopped a drug dealer and removed a huge quantity of drugs from the streets. This reduces harm and cuts off funding for organised crime.”
“We will continue disrupting criminals who exploit the vulnerable and profit from misery by selling illegal drugs that damage our communities.”
