Colchester Man Jailed for Hoarding Horrific Child Abuse Images
Dominic Osborne Robinson, 34, from Midway Road, Colchester, was slammed with a 20-month prison sentence at Portsmouth Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 20 April). He’s also been slapped with a 10-year spot on the Sex Offenders Register and hit with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a decade.
Guilty Plea Over Shocking Child Abuse Crimes
Robinson admitted guilt earlier to three counts of making indecent photos of children, two counts of attempting sexual communication with a child, and one count of encouraging or assisting a crime he believed would be committed.
Police Crack Down After Raiding Robinson’s Home
On 28 January 2019, intelligence led Hampshire cops to raid Robinson’s home. They found he was uploading vile child abuse images and engaging in online chats about abusing children.
He was arrested the same day at his workplace in Portsmouth.
Officers from the Internet Child Abuse Team (ICAT) confiscated three phones, a laptop, a tablet, and several cameras for forensic analysis.
Over 1,000 Abusive Images Unearthed
Detectives uncovered more than 1,000 child abuse images across Robinson’s devices. Disturbingly, these included category A photos—the most severe level of abuse. They also found multiple category A and B videos, along with sexually explicit chats with children.
DC Stephen Hill of Hampshire Constabulary’s ICAT said: “Behind every indecent image of a child is a vulnerable victim and these crimes are among the most appalling that we investigate.”
“Robinson is a habitual collector of indecent images that include category A, the most serious kind, for his own sexual gratification.
“He was found not only to possess these images but also to have actively sought to communicate with children.
“Tackling online viewing of indecent images and safeguarding children online is a priority for police and we will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice.”
