Monster Dad Jailed for Raping Partner and Her Young Son
A 56-year-old man has been found guilty of a horrifying 61 sexual offences against his then-partner and her young son. The jury convicted him at the Central Criminal Court of two counts of rape and 52 counts of sexual assault against the woman. He was also found guilty of raping the boy, who was aged between nine and eleven, along with four further sexual assaults.
Abuse Spanned Two Years of Terror
The sick abuse took place between October 2013 and December 2015, during which the man controlled and tormented the entire family. He was also convicted of two counts of cruelty to the couple’s children. The defendant, who denies all charges and plans to appeal, has no previous convictions and presented 11 character references calling him a “caring father” and “good friend.”
But the victim’s impact statement ripped into that image:
“Before I met him, I was strong and independent. He took that away from me. He seemed nice at first, but it was all for show. I did everything I could to protect my son, but he was a sick monster who always controlled everything.”
Judge Slams ‘Emotionally and Physically Oppressive’ Abuse
Mr Justice Michael McGrath described the man’s behaviour as “emotionally and physically oppressive” and said the rape “invaded the dignity of the victim.” The judge pointed out the grim breach of trust in abusing the boy, who saw the defendant as a father figure.
The children were “young and vulnerable,” the judge said, and lived in constant fear due to the defendant’s “oppressive and cruel” ways. The court heard how the abuser expected the children to clean at all hours and locked internal doors, demanding permission for basic things like using the bathroom.
The victim’s daughter described the home as a “prison.” She told the court her brother felt like an outsider because of the terrible secret he was forced to carry.
“No child should have felt like I did,” the son, now 19, said in court.
Sentence Delayed as Monster Refuses Remorse
Despite the overwhelming evidence, the man shows no remorse. The judge refused to suspend any part of his sentence and pushed sentencing back to March 23. He also imposed a 12-month post-release supervision order.
Prosecutor Shane Costello SC highlighted impact statements from the family, describing the terrifying aftermath:
- The ex-partner called him a “sick monster” for abusing her son.
- She revealed that after their breakup, he stalked and terrified her.
- The daughter said the abuser never showed affection, and the family home was like a “prison.”
