Brutal Stabbing: Man Jailed for 25 Years After Trying to Murder Ex
Robin Ibrahim, 28, from Tower Hamlets, was locked up for 25 years on March 10 at Basildon Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to attempted murder and carrying an offensive weapon.
Deceptive Lure Ends in Knife Attack
On June 28, 2021, Ibrahim tricked his ex-girlfriend into meeting him outside a bank in Hornchurch, promising to pay her a large sum. After missing the bank’s opening time, they moved to a nearby car park. Instead of paying her, Ibrahim pulled a knife and stabbed her 18 times in a savage attack.
Public Heroics and Police Praise
The victim’s sister and members of the public bravely intervened, restraining Ibrahim until police arrived. Detective Constable Ollie Jones said, “Ibrahim lied to his ex-girlfriend to get her to meet him, then stabbed her repeatedly. Without the quick action of the victim’s sister and others, this could have been far worse.”
DC Jones added, “The officer teams worked rapidly to build a strong case. Ibrahim knew the evidence was overwhelming, which is why he pled guilty.” He also praised the victim’s courage and the public’s heroism for saving her life.
Attack Aftermath and Swift Justice
- The victim survived emergency surgery and is recovering from severe injuries.
- Police secured crucial CCTV footage showing Ibrahim’s movements to and from the crime scene.
- Ibrahim was charged two days after the stabbing and has now been convicted.
This terrifying attack highlights the danger of domestic violence and the lifesaving role of community bravery.
