Violent Assault Shocks Milford Haven

A man sprayed a noxious substance into a stranger’s face on a busy Pembrokeshire street. Gareth Brian Roberts, 28, launched the attack on Charles Street, Milford Haven, on a Saturday afternoon – November 30, 2019. The shocking assault unfolded while families shopped and enjoyed their day out.

Swift Police Action Secures Conviction

Officers were on the scene quickly, arresting Roberts and recovering the pepper spray. Body-worn police cameras and CCTV footage helped build an airtight case. This week, Roberts was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Swansea Crown Court for possession of a prohibited weapon and administering a noxious substance.

Police Warn But Reassure Locals

“It was particularly disturbing to see such violent behaviour and brazen use of a noxious substance in a retail area,” said PC Adam Bateman. “Officers acted fast to seize evidence. Thanks to forensic work and video footage, we achieved a successful prosecution.”

“While shocking, this kind of incident is very rare in Milford Haven. I want to reassure residents, workers, and visitors alike.”
