Train Horror: Sexual Assault at Birkenhead Park Station Lands Man in Jail

Nathan Nash Jailed for Sexual Assault on Woman at Train Station

Nathan Nash, 30, from Eastham, Wirral, was sentenced to 12 months behind bars at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday 16 December. The court heard how Nash sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman at Birkenhead Park station on 14 April.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was slapped with a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting or coming near the victim, her home, work, or local train stations. Nash must also pay the victim £156 compensation.

Horrific Ordeal on the Train

The court was told Nash approached the young woman as she waited for a train, striking up conversation despite her protests. He boarded the same train and sat beside her, assaulting her and making lewd comments. The victim repeatedly told Nash to leave her alone.

The nightmare didn’t end there. Nash followed her off the train at Wallasey Grove station and even trailed her to her workplace, where he offered her his coat and made unwanted advances.

Bravery Pays Off – Nash Reported and Caught

The victim alerted colleagues at work, who ordered Nash to leave and reported the incident to police. Detective Constable Juliet Thomas praised the victim’s courage.

“This ordeal left the victim shaken and terrified. For Nash to follow her to a place she thought was safe has had huge implications for her,” said DC Thomas. “She has shown incredible bravery supporting this investigation and thankfully Nash is now behind bars.”

“We are committed to tackling sexual offenders on the railway network,” she added, urging anyone affected to report offences via text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40. In emergencies, dial 999 immediately.”
