Brutal Attacks Leave Woman Covered in Bruises – Man Jailed for Over Five Years
Two Savage Attacks in Bottesford Flat
David Smith unleashed two “horrendous ordeals” on his girlfriend inside his Granby Drive flat in Bottesford. The brutal assaults happened on 3 January and 8 March. Each time, Smith repeatedly punched and kicked the victim, leaving her with a cut lip and bruises all over her face, head, and body.
Justice Served at Leicester Crown Court
Following a thorough police investigation, the 42-year-old admitted two counts of actual bodily harm (ABH). On 18 May, Leicester Crown Court sentenced him to five years and six months behind bars. He was also slapped with an indefinite restraining order, banning any contact with his ex-partner.
Police and Charity Urge Victims to Speak Out
“Smith carried out two violent and vicious attacks on his partner, one lasting over two hours,” said DC James Piskula from the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit. “Thankfully, the victim suffered no long-term physical injuries and found the courage to report the abuse. We hope this sentence gives her the closure she deserves.”
“If you are suffering abuse, please reach out. Our specialist officers are here to listen and help you through the reporting process,” he added.
Victims can also seek free and confidential support from FreeVA, a charity fighting domestic violence in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
