Driver Blows Over 8x Legal Limit on Ketamine After Driving to Work
Ketamine-fuelled Driving Shocker in Ryde
Joshua Winson, 21, from Salisbury Road, Ryde, admitted to drug driving after being caught with a staggering 176 units of ketamine in his blood. That’s more than eight times the legal limit. The offence happened on February 3rd this year.
Driving High After Taking Drugs the Night Before
Winson took ketamine the night before and still had the drug in his system when he drove to work the next day, the court heard. His poor driving raised suspicion when he was spotted creeping around a McDonald’s car park and parking badly between two spaces.
Public Alerted Police, Driver Quick to Admit Drug Use
A concerned member of the public called the police thinking he was drunk. When stopped, Winson admitted straight away he was under the influence of drugs, not alcohol.
Judge Hands Down Driving Ban and Fine
Winson’s defence said he had “a lot going on at home” and that a friend had recommended the ketamine. The court wasn’t lenient. He was slapped with a 12-month driving ban alongside a £166 fine, £85 costs, and a £34 surcharge.
