Jazz Musician William ‘Blaise’ Algar Stabbed to Death in Barnes Home
The body of William Algar, 53, aka Blaise, was found in his Barnes house on Nowell Road on Friday, 3 January. The jazz trumpeter was discovered during a police welfare check. Friends and family are left reeling after the tragic stabbing.
Teen Charged with Murder
A 17-year-old from Kensington and Chelsea was charged with murder on Monday, 6 January. He appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 8 January. The next hearing is set for 16 February. Police were called after concerns were raised about an occupant’s wellbeing at the property.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Inspector White of the Specialist Crime Command is leading the probe. He urged the public to come forward with any information. “We want to hear from anyone who saw William – especially in November and December – or noticed unfamiliar faces around Nowell Road,” he said.
“Did you see Blaise at local shops in Castlenau? Any small detail could help us piece together his movements before his death.”
Family Pay Tribute to ‘Gentle’ Musician
“We are utterly horrified to lose our son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend in such tragic circumstances,” his family said. “William, known as Blaise, was an incredibly talented and gentle man whose jazz trumpet brought joy to many.
“He was also very vulnerable. We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and help bring those responsible to justice.”
