Jealousy and rage fuel brutal murder of mother in Kensworth
Murderer Habib Jackson Sentenced
Habib Jackson of Toddington was sentenced today for the savage murder of 29-year-old Louise Rump at her Kensworth home.
Jackson met Miss Rump at her flat before repeatedly punching her in the face, then strangling and smothering her to death.
Obsession Turns Deadly
The court heard Jackson wanted to rekindle a relationship with Louise, but she rejected him. Consumed by obsession and jealousy, he unleashed a violent attack that destroyed her life.
Just over an hour later, firefighters discovered the mother-of-two dead in her flat, leaving her children traumatised forever.
“As a result of your obsession with her and your controlling, violent nature, those two children will now have to live with the knowledge that their mother was brutally killed while they were at school,” said the judge.
Family Speak Out
Jane Hedges, Louise’s aunt, said: “While we have taken some comfort from today’s sentence, nothing will ever make up for our loss.”
Attempt to Cover Tracks
Jackson had a small bottle of petrol in his car, allegedly for a planned bonfire on Bonfire Night. After the killing, he was seen discarding a bloodstained jumper and cardboard box near the scene before driving off.
He then went to his home in Houghton Regis, where he hid clothing and one of Louise’s phones in a bin.
Police Call for Action Against Violence
Detective Superintendent Rob Hall condemned Jackson’s actions: “This kind of obsessive, controlling and violent behaviour is evil, dangerous and unacceptable.”
He added: “We must all stand up so women and girls across Bedfordshire feel safe. Policing must recognise, take seriously, and act against men like Habib Jackson.”
“The public can help by reporting misogynistic behaviour and concerns when women feel unsafe. Together, we can root out these appalling attitudes.”
