Wembley Tattoo Artist Jailed for Rape After Trust Betrayed
Dewal Dos Santos Silva, 37, a Brazilian living in Wembley, HA9, was locked up for 13 years on Thursday, 17 November at Harrow Crown Court for raping a woman who trusted him. He must serve another five years on licence and is barred from contacting his victim.
Trusted Tattoo Session Turns Nightmare
Dos Santos Silva used his home studio as a front. The victim, a woman in her mid-30s, got in touch via social media, expecting a tattoo appointment on 30 October 2020. She’d previously met him for a piercing and felt safe.
But during this visit, she became groggy and lost consciousness. She woke hours later to find Dos Santos Silva raping her. After the attack, he even texted her, apologising for “screwing up” and asking if she was angry.
Fast Police Action and Forensic Proof
- The victim reported the crime the next day and was supported by specialists.
- Police launched an immediate investigation and arrested Dos Santos Silva on 3 November.
- He claimed amnesia about the event, but forensic evidence sealed his fate.
- He was acquitted of administering a substance with intent, but convicted of rape.
Police Urge Other Victims to Come Forward
“The victim somewhat trusted Dos Santos Silva as she had met him on a previous occasion for a piercing which went without incident,” said Detective Constable Ian Smith.
“This time he exploited that trust in the most horrific way. Her bravery is remarkable. We hope the sentence helps her move forward.”
“There could be more victims. If you have suffered, contact us. We will listen, investigate, and act.”
