Man in 20s Murdered in Colchester Late-Night Attack

Tragedy struck on the Greenstead estate after midnight on Friday, 11 December. Police rushed to Affleck Road at around 12.15am where they found a man in his 20s fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A teenager nearby suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Charged Suspect and Multiple Arrests

Later that same day, 25-year-old Sheldon McKay from Ridgewell Way, Colchester was arrested and charged with murder. He is set to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 15 December.

Officers have since made a fourth arrest— a 17-year-old held on suspicion of assisting an offender remains in custody. Additionally, a 19-year-old man, arrested Sunday on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, is still being questioned by detectives.

A 20-year-old woman was also arrested but has been released on bail.

Police Urge Public to Come Forward

Police want to hear from anyone who heard disturbances late on Thursday 10 December or early hours of Friday 11 December, or noticed suspicious activity near Affleck Road. Any information could be vital.
