Mother Faces Child Cruelty Charges After Baby’s Tragic Death
Stacey Davis, 35, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court yesterday over the heartbreaking death of her one-year-old son in June 2018. The toddler was left alone in his cot while Davis went out, only to be found lifeless hours later. Despite emergency efforts at the Royal United Hospital, the little boy sadly died.
Investigation Finds No Clear Cause of Death
A thorough and complex investigation followed, involving expert reviews, but no definitive cause of death was established. The Crown Prosecution Service stepped in, approving charges against Davis for child cruelty and possession of cannabis after Wiltshire Police presented the case.
Detective Slams Mother’s Neglect
“Davis’ actions on the day her son died fell well below the duty she owed to him as his mother – she should have loved him, cared for him and put his welfare first, as any loving, doting parent would,” said Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker from the Major Crime Investigation Team.
He added, “It has been over four years since he died and I know that this has been an incredibly difficult time for everyone who knew and loved him. The investigation team have worked tirelessly on what has been a challenging and extremely upsetting case and their hard work has ensured it has now been followed through to its conclusion.”
