Cop David Carrick Hit With 12 More Sex Crime Charges
David Carrick, the Met police officer from Hertfordshire, faces 12 fresh charges, pushing his total to a shocking 41 offences. The new allegations involve three new victims and reportedly span from 2003 to 2015.
Grim List of Charges Grows
The 47-year-old denied 20 charges back in December. Now, the Crown Prosecution Service says the latest accusations include:
- Two counts of rape
- One count of attempted rape
- Two counts of assault by penetration
These relate to the three new complainants. On top of that, Carrick faces three counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault connected to an existing victim between 2018 and 2020.
Massive Court Battle Looms
Carrick is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 21 March to face the new charges. His trial at St Alban’s Crown Court kicks off on 26 April.
So far, his full list of 41 charges includes:
- 18 counts of rape
- 9 counts of sexual assault
- 5 counts of assault by penetration
- 3 counts of coercive and controlling behaviour
- 2 counts of false imprisonment
- 2 counts of attempted rape
- 1 count of attempted sexual assault by penetration
- 1 count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent
Suspended Officer Under Fire
Carrick worked with the Met’s elite Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command. He has been suspended from duty as investigations continue.
