Brutal Murder of Logan Mwangi: Three Found Guilty

Angharad Williamson, 31, John Cole, 40, and a 14-year-old boy have been convicted of murdering Logan Mwangi in July 2021. The schoolboy’s battered body was discovered dumped in the River Ogmore, just yards from his home in Sarn, Bridgend county.

Horrific Injuries Reveal “Brutal and Sustained” Attack

Experts revealed Logan suffered 56 catastrophic injuries. These included severe bruising to the back of his head and tears in his liver and bowel — injuries so severe they were compared to those from serious road traffic accidents. They confirmed the wounds resulted from a savage assault at home hours or days before his death, consistent with child abuse.

CCTV and Evidence Expose Lies and Cover-Up

  • CCTV captured Cole and the teenager moving Logan’s body to the river at 2:43 AM on 31 July.
  • They returned to the house shortly after to fetch Logan’s torn dinosaur pyjama top, later found in a wooded area.
  • Williamson claimed she was asleep all night, but footage showed lights flicking on and off in Logan’s room and curtains being opened.
  • She was also seen using her phone to watch YouTube videos during the hours in question.
  • A desperate 999 call from Williamson hours later claimed her son was missing — a call the jury branded dishonest.

Bodycam footage showed Cole comforting a distraught Williamson at the house shortly after police arrived. Despite their attempts to deceive, the jury found all three guilty of murder.

Guilty of More Than Murder

John Cole had already pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice after packing Logan’s body in a sports bag and dumping it. Williamson and the teenager denied similar charges but were convicted alongside him.

Both adults also pleaded not guilty to causing or allowing the death of a child, but the evidence confirmed their guilt beyond doubt.
