Police Officer Charged After Fatal Whitton Road Crash

A Met Police officer has been charged with causing death by careless driving following a tragic collision in Hounslow.

PC Daniel Francis Faces Court Over Fatal Crash

PC Daniel Francis, 33, from the West Area Command Unit, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 7 December. The charge comes after a crash on 1 November 2019 on Whitton Road that left pedestrian Andrew Brown, 23, dead in hospital.

Investigation and Ongoing Proceedings

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) carried out a thorough investigation into the incident. Following their findings, the case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service. The Metropolitan Police has fully cooperated throughout the inquiry.

Officer on Restricted Duty

PC Francis, who was driving a marked police car at the time of the crash, is currently on restricted duties. Any misconduct issues will be addressed after the criminal case concludes.
