Blaze breaks out late Saturday night
A devastating fire tore through a flat in Ham Close on Saturday evening, claiming one life. Emergency services were called just before 10pm after a neighbour alerted them to a smoke alarm sounding inside the building.
Firefighters race to scene with full force
Four fire engines and around 30 firefighters and officers rushed to the Field House property to tackle the blaze. When they forced entry, crews tragically discovered a deceased occupant inside.
Area cordoned off for investigation
Authorities have asked residents and members of the public to steer clear of the area while they continue their emergency response. The Met Police have launched a full investigation into what caused the fire and are trying to contact the victim’s next of kin.
