PC Toby Caswell Axed Over Disgraceful Racist Abuse and Bullying

The Met Police have fired PC Toby Caswell after a shocking misconduct probe. Colleagues raised the alarm over his appalling behaviour, triggering a full investigation.

Racist Comments and Humiliation Claims

A misconduct panel heard how between 2019 and 2021, Caswell belittled, mocked, and humiliated fellow officers. He reportedly made racist remarks, including asking a colleague, “Why don’t you go back to your own country?”

He also allegedly sprayed disinfectant on one officer’s trousers and bombarded another’s phone during crucial briefings.

Gross Misconduct Verdict and Immediate Dismissal

The panel, led by an independent legal chair, found Caswell guilty of gross misconduct. He breached professional standards around equality, diversity, respect, and authority. The verdict was clear: Caswell was sacked without notice.

Chief Superintendent Andy Carter, who oversees Camden and Islington policing, said: “PC Caswell’s behaviour towards his three fellow officers was appalling and he has quite rightly been dismissed.

“I am very sorry that his colleagues had to endure this behaviour and I welcome the fact that multiple officers reported PC Caswell’s conduct so swift action could be taken.

“Everyone in the Met is clearer than ever that we must root out those who corrupt the integrity of our organisation.”

Barred for Life from Policing and Emergency Services

PC Caswell will now be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing. This prohibits him from working for any police force, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, or Fire and Rescue Services.

Justice served for those affected, and a stark warning to anyone who dares bring disgrace to the Met.
