Hate crime brawler jailed after vicious attack on Brixton bus stop
Jabbard Mabounda locked up for 12 months
Jabbard Mabounda, 31, of Crosby Walk, SW2, was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Inner London Crown Court on Monday, 22 April. The violent yob was caught on CCTV after he attacked two men waiting for a bus on Brixton Road, SW9. Both victims needed hospital treatment following the brutal assault on 19 August last year, after attending a Black Pride event.
Victims praise PC Andy De Santis for support
PC Andy De Santis was on hand to support the victims after their ordeal. One of the men said in a heartfelt letter:
“He has consistently checked on my emotional well-being and provided contacts for victim support. His dedication has gone above and beyond, and I believe he exemplifies the kind of support that is needed in such cases.”
Detective slams “vicious, homophobic attack”
Detective Inspector Pete Thompson from Brixton condemned the attack:
“This was a vicious, homophobic attack committed against two men who were simply waiting at a bus stop. Mabounda is a violent person who has rightly been imprisoned for what he did.”
He praised the victims for their bravery and stressed the Met Police’s commitment to tackling hate crime.
“Homophobia has no place in our society and it will not be tolerated in any form. I’m hugely proud of the feedback PC De Santis has received, showing the high standards of our officers and their dedication to keeping Londoners safe.”
