Met Police Officer Injured in Knife Incident Outside London Chicken Shop
A Metropolitan Police officer is in hospital after a knife attack during an arrest outside a chicken shop in Camberwell, South London. The violent encounter happened just after midday on Monday, April 8, on Walworth Road, following reports of a disturbance.
Suspect Now in Custody – Investigation Underway
The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody as officers continue their inquiries.
Chief Inspector Warns of Daily Danger to Officers
Chief Inspector Mark Kent from the Met’s Central South Command said, “This incident highlights the danger that our officers face every day in their efforts to keep the public safe. There is no place for knives on our streets.”
He praised the officer’s bravery and stressed the need for a safe working environment for police. Kent added he was relieved the injured officer is expected to make a full recovery, but the attack raises serious concerns about officer safety on duty.
