Drunken Donna’s Downfall: Sober for Sentencing After Court Chaos
After a month behind bars, Donna Urquhart, 43, appeared sober and remorseful at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday. The notorious troublemaker faced sentencing over an affray where she swung a baseball bat, claiming she was stabbed in the head with a meat cleaver.
Vodka-Fuelled Court Meltdown
Back in December, Urquhart’s courtroom antics landed her in custody. The judge caught her drunk, having confiscated a half-empty bottle of vodka. Her male friend erupted in a vile tirade, mocking the judge’s “silly wig” and shouting, “Are you having a fucking laugh?”
Security quickly intervened as Urquhart was taken away and her foul-mouthed ally was escorted from the court.
Judge Gives Donna a Second Chance
Facing Judge Ashworth again on Friday, Urquhart heard a stern warning. “You can’t parent when you are drunk,” he said, urging her to get on top of her alcohol issues. He also hinted she should choose her company wisely, referring to “the guy who was giving it to me.”
The judge handed down an 18-month community order with an alcohol treatment condition, 20 rehabilitation days, and an electronic tag from 6pm to 6am for two weeks.
“I am giving you some slack on this but don’t mess me about,” the judge added.
Violent Street Brawl History
Urquhart, of April Square, Landport, was involved in a violent street fight on St Faith’s Road on 9th April 2020. She wielded a baseball bat during the scuffle. While accused of hitting a woman, this was denied and not part of the charge.
Police arrested her after the incident. Urquhart claimed she had a “large cut to the back of the head” from a meat cleaver attack and insisted she was defending herself with reasonable force.
Co-Defendant Also Sentenced
Chloe Rowsell, 22, from St Faith’s Road, admitted her role in the affray and received a 12-month community order at the December hearing. She must complete 40 hours of unpaid work and wear an electronic tag from 7pm to 7am until January 1.
