Crime Spree Ends for Burglary Bandit James McCorkindale
James McCorkindale has pleaded guilty to a string of burglaries and thefts across East Leicester, Leicester city, and Loughborough last September. The crook’s spree shook local communities before police finally caught up with him.
CCTV and Forensics Seal the Case
A thorough police probe used CCTV footage and forensic evidence from multiple crime scenes to pin McCorkindale as the prime suspect. He was spotted on Evington Road by officers and arrested on 26 September.
On arrest, McCorkindale was found carrying a kitchen knife, screwdriver, and a suspicious white substance. Tests revealed the drug was a controlled substance, adding to his charges.
Crime Details and Sentencing
- 3 September: Theft of cash from a property on Weymouth Street, Leicester.
- Additional burglaries and thefts across East Leicester, Leicester city, and Loughborough throughout September 2022.
McCorkindale received a hefty prison sentence of five years and seven months for his offences.
Police Vow to Protect East Leicester
Inspector Yakub Ismail, East Leicester Neighbourhood Policing commander, said: “Offences like these hit our communities hard, both financially and personally for victims. Burglary remains a top priority, and we continue to dedicate patrols and resources to keep East Leicester safe.”
He added: “I hope this sentence reassures victims this force is committed to justice.”
