Salford Crime Boss Caught Red-Handed: Nine Years for Heroin and Guns
Arron Corkovic, a notorious grime figure from Dixon Avenue, Salford, was slammed with a hefty jail term at Manchester Crown Court yesterday (13 December 2022). Despite strict restrictions after an earlier 13-year sentence, Corkovic plunged straight back into serious crime, dealing heroin and firearms across the north-west and even overseas.
EncroChat Betrayal Exposes Drug and Gun Dealer
Corkovic, who was released early from prison after serving eight years for a violent Morrisons robbery in Whitefield, ignored a Serious Crime Prevention Order. He grabbed an EncroChat phone under the alias ‘stealthy’ and hooked up with organised crime gangs in Salford, Manchester, Merseyside, and Dubai.
His dirty dealings unraveled when the National Crime Agency (NCA) cracked the EncroChat network in 2020. Evidence showed Corkovic plotting to supply a kilo of heroin for £16,000, alongside arranging firearm transfers.
Two Jail Terms to Run Back-to-Back
Corkovic was hit with nine years for conspiracy to supply class A drugs and an additional four years for encouraging the transfer of a firearm. The sentences will run consecutively, keeping him behind bars for the foreseeable future.
“Despite spending most of his twenties in prison, Corkovic intended to keep up his lucrative criminal empire,” said DC Steven Walker from GMP’s Organised Crime Unit. “Even after early release, he immediately dived back into dealing heroin, guns, and ammo – the crimes that hurt communities the most.”
“Thanks to Operation Venetic and our partners at the NCA, we will continue hunting down those exploiting EncroChat. The Crown Prosecution Service also deserves credit for securing this result.”
Next Steps: Proceeds of Crime Act Hearing
Corkovic faces a new fight as authorities prepare a confiscation order under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). His crime spree, halted for now, signals a tough stance on those daring to break the law after prison.
