Sex Beast Jailed for 12 Years After Assaulting Teen on Train

Attack on Train Between Coventry and Birmingham

Elemir Bandy, 61, shocked fellow commuters when he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl on a train travelling from Coventry to Birmingham International in April. The predator preyed on the young victim at Coventry station before boarding the train, where the assault unfolded.

Judge Slams Bandy with Heavy Sentence

On Friday, August 12, Bandy was slapped with 12 years behind bars by a judge at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court. The sentence includes a six-year custodial term and a six-year extension. He’s also been put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, banned from working with children or vulnerable adults, and handed a 12-year sexual harm prevention order.

Brave Bystanders Help Catch Pervert

The sickening ordeal began when Bandy approached the girl at Coventry station at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, trying to start a conversation. The teen ignored him, but he followed her onto the train, continued to chat, and even gave her £20 for a drink.

What followed was horrific: Bandy rubbed himself against her, forced her to touch him, kissed her on the lips, and digitally penetrated her—leaving visible marks on her neck.

Luckily, two observant passengers noticed her distress. One asked, “Are you okay?” When the victim said, “Yes” to being assaulted, the witnesses alerted rail staff. British Transport Police swooped, arresting Bandy immediately on the Birmingham International platform.

Confession and Police Praise

In his first police interview, Bandy bizarrely claimed he thought the girl was a prostitute and gave her money for that reason. But in a follow-up, he confessed, “I admit everything.”

“This has been an incredible case of teamwork—from the bravery of bystanders to the swift action of officers ensuring Bandy was charged and remanded the day after the incident,” said Detective Sergeant Mike LeConte, lead investigator.

The victim added, “Sexual offences are a key priority for us at BTP. Everyone has the right to travel safely and without fear.”
