Fighter Jet Intercepts EasyJet Flight Over Suspicious Teen
An 18-year-old passenger travelling with five friends was hauled off an EasyJet flight and thrown in jail after an F-18 fighter jet intercepted their plane mid-air. The teenager now awaits a court hearing following the dramatic incident.
Fighter Jet Wings It Close to Commercial Plane
Shocking footage shows a Spanish military F-18 jet flying dangerously close to EasyJet’s A319, which can carry up to 150 passengers. The fighter jet waggled its wings—a pilot’s signal to follow—causing panic among those on board. One passenger nervously asked, “Why is it doing that, is it just showing off?“
Security Fears Spark High-Stakes Interception
Such military interceptions happen when civilian aircraft lose contact with air traffic control or if a threat is suspected—bomb scares, suspicious objects, or terror risks. Flight EZY8303 left London Gatwick at 1pm and touched down safely at Menorca around 4:30pm, escorted to a secure area by the fighter jet.
Teen Arrested, Passengers Held for Bomb Checks
At Menorca Airport, the teenager was arrested as sniffer dogs and bomb disposal teams combed through passengers’ luggage for two tense hours. The Civil Guard confirmed the security sweep delayed other flights departing the island.
An EasyJet spokesman said: “The safety and security of our passengers and crew is always our top priority. We appreciate everyone’s patience during these precautionary checks.” No further details were released.
