Extinction Rebellion Storm Barclays in Brighton – Four Arrested
This afternoon, on November 14, Extinction Rebellion activists staged a daring protest outside Barclays bank on North Street, Brighton. The eco-warriors “locked on” to the building, disrupting business as part of a nationwide day of action targeting high street banks.
Protests Ripple Through UK Cities
The Brighton protest was just one of several across the UK, with Extinction Rebellion hitting hotspots including Birmingham and Aberdeen. Their target: Big banks they say are fuelling climate chaos.
Police Step In – Four Held for Aggravated Trespass
Sussex Police were quick to act. A spokesperson said:
“Police attended a protest being held outside a business in North Street, Brighton, at around 1.15pm on Monday, November 14. Officers engaged with those present and the business in order to facilitate a peaceful protest and minimise disruption to the public. Four people have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and taken into custody.”
The protest caused a buzz on the high street, raising fresh questions about the clash between climate activism and public order.
