A brutal assault rocked a Mixed Martial Arts event at Swindon’s MECA on Saturday night. Just before 11pm on March 5, a man in his 20s from Hampshire was left with a fractured jaw and serious head injuries after being attacked.
Violent Attack Shocks MMA Crowd
The victim suffered wounds to his eye socket and had to be rushed to hospital for treatment. The assault happened during the closing moments of the MMA event at Regent Circus.
Suspect Arrested but Released Under Investigation
Police arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) under Section 18. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Det Con Helen Bott from Swindon CID said: “This was a nasty incident which left the victim with several injuries. Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident and we have arrested one individual. However, we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault, including anyone who may have mobile phone footage of an altercation inside the arena at around 10.50pm.”
