Trainee Solicitor and Special Constable Caught with Shocking Child Abuse Images
Jack Mallinson, 26, a trainee solicitor and special police constable with West Yorkshire Police, has been unmasked by the National Crime Agency (NCA) for possessing thousands of indecent images of children and sharing shocking messages online.
Disturbing Chats and Massive Image Haul Discovered
Back in October 2020, Mallinson used the encrypted messaging app Wickr to send graphic, fictional posts describing abuse of children, including disturbing talk about a baby. These vile messages were uncovered by NCA investigators, leading to his arrest on 7 January last year.
Officers seized several of Mallinson’s devices, uncovering a massive stash of 2,263 indecent images of children, ranging from Category A (most severe) to Category C, on his mobile phone. On his gaming laptop, they found 14 extreme pornographic images involving bestiality.
Claims of Fabrication Fall Flat as He Pleads Guilty
During interviews, Mallinson admitted writing the vile posts but claimed they were fabricated for shock value and denied any actual contact offences. However, he confessed to viewing child abuse material received online between March and November 2020, ceasing only after securing his trainee solicitor role. He also admitted watching extreme pornography.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to multiple charges at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 2 March, including making and possessing indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornographic bestiality images, and publishing obscene posts. He was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on 5 May.
NCA Condemns Mallinson’s Abuse of Trust
“Jack Mallinson has undoubtedly abused the huge responsibility entrusted in him as a solicitor, and by West Yorkshire Police,” said NCA operations manager Matthew Brooks.
“Although he did not commit physical abuse, the very fact he posted such disgusting messages to complete strangers online indicates he poses a sexual threat to children.
“He also had a significant collection of child abuse material in his possession. Behind every one of these images and videos is a young victim, who is powerless and exploited.
“The NCA will continue to do everything it can to bring offenders like Mallinson to justice and protect those affected by online child sexual abuse.”
