Kent Police Crackdown on Nuisance Drivers This Weekend

From 7pm Friday 7 July to 7pm Sunday 9 July 2023, Kent Police will enforce special orders targeting reckless and nuisance drivers across key hotspots.

Locations in the Hot Seat

The crackdown zones include the Dockside Outlet Centre in Chatham, Medway Valley Leisure Park in Strood, plus their car parks. Officers will have the power to stop and move on anyone causing trouble.

Community Complaints Spark Action

This move comes after a spike in complaints about dangerous driving and nuisance vehicles over the past month. Police want to nip anti-social behaviour in the bud and protect local residents.

Inspector Daniel Blatter from the Medway Community Safety Unit said: “Residents have reported concerns about the dangers posed to other road users and the impact on the quality of life of the community. The orders give our officers additional powers to move on anyone causing a nuisance and, if necessary, arrest those who return to the area once dispersed. Those who persist in this behaviour also risk having their vehicles seized.”

Report Trouble Online

As part of Kent Police’s Safer Summer campaign, officers are cracking down hard on anti-social driving. If you see any trouble, report it fast via the Kent Police website.
